Refired, Not Retired: Ricky Dickson on Faith, Leadership, Purpose, and Living One Scoop at a Time

In this inspiring episode of Mirror Talk: Soulful Conversations, Ricky Dickson, former CEO and President of Blue Bell Creameries and author of One Scoop at a Time: Stories & Lessons From Fear to Faith, joins us for a heartfelt conversation about faith, leadership, purpose, and life beyond retirement.

After 43 years at Blue Bell Creameries, Ricky describes his new season not as retirement, but as being “refired.” He shares how God shaped his identity beyond title and achievement, how fear can become faith, and why integrity remains one of the strongest foundations for leadership, relationships, and lasting success.

This conversation is a reminder that purpose does not end when a professional chapter closes. Sometimes, the next chapter becomes the place where God refines us, renews us, and calls us deeper.

In this soulful conversation, Ricky opens up about what it means to live with passion and purpose after a long career, how to keep God at the centre of decision-making, and why fear does not have to control the direction of our lives. He also reflects on the lessons learned through leadership, the refining power of difficult seasons, and the importance of doing what you say you are going to do.

If you are navigating transition, uncertainty, fear, retirement, leadership pressure, or a season of waiting, this episode will encourage you to keep trusting God one step at a time.
