When We Were Young: The Fire, the Falls, and the Becoming

When We Were Young: The Fire, the Falls, and the Becoming
Lessons from Lust, Fire & the Foolishness of Youth

There’s something beautiful and brutal about youth. It’s when we burn brightest, fall hardest, and learn slowest.

We say yes to things that weren’t meant for us. We love people who weren’t ready to be loved. We chase dreams that look good on paper but hollow out our souls.

But this isn’t a post to shame our past. It’s a post to bless it.

To say: Thank you, younger me. For trying. For risking. For feeling.

Whether we see ourselves in public figures who spiralled and came back, or in ancient quotes that remind us we are always becoming, there is something powerful about reflecting without regret.

So today, pause. Remember. Reflect.

And know:
The once reckless one is now rooted.
The one who once ran is now rising.
And the one who once broke… is now building.

When we were young, we burned.
Now we become light.

So how do we rise from who we were?

  1. Compassion for your younger self.
Write them a letter. They weren’t weak. They were just trying to feel alive.
  2. Wisdom from the wreckage.
Every heartbreak, every misstep — mined with intention, becomes gold.
  3. Share your story.
The world needs people who say, “I’ve been there. And I’m still becoming.”

We were once young — yes.
But we’re not that person anymore.
We’ve earned our wrinkles, our quiet, our depth.

And as the poet Rumi wrote:

“Try not to resist the changes that come your way. Instead, let life live through you.”

Let us not curse our past. Let us bless it — for shaping us into beings who now move slower, love deeper, and speak softer.

You are not your mistake.
You are the masterpiece unfolding.

Until next time — keep reflecting, keep healing, keep growing.
You are not alone.
